• From Miami to Homestead, it’s about a 40-minute drive (30 miles) before you officially hit the Florida Keys.
• Once you pass Florida City, get ready—the Overseas Highway adventure begins.

As you follow US-1, here are the highlights you’ll pass in order:

• Key Largo – Known as the “Diving Capital of the World,” it’s home to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.
• Islamorada – A must-stop to feed the giant tarpon at Robbie’s Marina—bring cash and watch your fingers!
• Marathon – A family-friendly island with the Turtle Hospital and a slice of local Keys charm.
